Coronary artery disease/Myocardial infarction
- Examination of the coronary arteries (coronary catheterization)
- Dilation of narrowed coronary arteries and implantation of a stent
A catheter-based examination of the coronary arteries is performed in collaboration with the Luxembourg INCCI INCCI. This plays a particularly important role in circulatory disturbances of the heart. The process is performed in an alert patient from an artery in the wrist or in the groin under local anaesthesia. The result of a coronary angiography may require the treatment of constrictions in the coronary arteries, which affect the blood flow to the heart. After or during dilation of the constriction with a balloon, a small stent (mostly metal) is normally used.
